Welcome to Cheviot Motel and Holiday Park – The Quiet One
Set in the beautiful and unspoilt countryside of Cheviot. The beautifully maintained and landscaped grounds are placed in a quiet, sunny location, 700 metres off the main highway (SH1) and easy walking distance to the town centre, restaurants and shopping area.
The accommodation includes 6 recently refurbished motel units (2011), spacious camping sites, powered sites and the original Jailhouse of Cheviot, built in 1901, which has now been customised into two separate rooms for those of you who want to feel a part of our wonderful history.
If you are camping or using the cabins, you are welcome to bring along your pets, but our motel units are not ‘pet-friendly’.
One of our cabins was originally a chaffing wagon which, on a single axle, was drawn behind steam-powered traction engines to provide accommodation for the workers on the surrounding farms.
There is also a swimming pool to refresh you after a long hot day enjoying our wonderful scenery, as well as a fully equipped kitchen block, facilities block and laundry.
We have the advantage of being central to some of the neighbouring attractions. Being a one hour drive to the fantastic Whale Watching at Kaikoura, or leave your car here and take the train up for the day. Mount Lyford Ski Fields and Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort are also within a one hour drive. Cheviot Motel is also within 30 minutes drive to the Vineyards of Waipara.
